The morning was cold. I force myself to wake up at 0600 local time. For what? To run! I have been swimming but I have not run for the last few months. But it was a good run with 3 of my students. We ran for about 20 minutes around Endcliffe Park.
This morning will be the student first walk to the campus. It will be so for the next 2 weeks walk about 3 km a day to and fro to the Diamond. The temperature was cool, but praise God, it did not rain. The students took pictures along the way.
The program start with a walk around the Diamond visiting the various lab. The facilities enable the students to work on their own on the various project. I count myself fortunate to be in Singapore, knowing that we too have good facilities in our schools and polytechnic. The government has indeed invested a lot on education.
We had a campus treasure hunt. Of course the most interesting is still the "lift" at Art Tower.
After lunch the program has 2 workshop. One is how to made informed decision. The activities was based on a real scenario with facts and data present and the students role played to make the final decision to race or not to race. I in particular like this activity as it involve real life data and how to use the facts and data to made a real life informed decision. Decisions that is based on facts and not emotions. Decision is made based on priorities and values. What is the most important to made decisions.
The second workshop is on the 6 thinking hats. Of course it is easy to know. But in life making decisions, when did we use it. It is a thought process that uses that weighs based on good, the bad, the wacky and facts.
